Eric Hoyt is a PhD student in the Division of Critical Studies at the University of Southern California. He received the 2009 Society for Cinema and Media Studies Student Writing Award for his essay, “Writer in the Hole: Desny v. Wilder, Copyright Law, and the Battle over Ideas” (forthcoming in Cinema Journal). Prior to beginning his graduate studies, Hoyt worked at a major Hollywood talent agency.
