Cristóbal Escobar & Amanda Barbour

Cristóbal Escobar is a Lecturer in Screen Studies at The University of Melbourne and a Film Programmer for the Santiago International Documentary Film Festival (FIDOCS). He co-edited the ‘Film and Nonhuman’ Dossier with Barbara Creed for Senses of Cinema (Issue 109), and their second volume on the same topic is forthcoming with the University of Exeter Press in 2026. Cristóbal is also the author of The Intensive-Image in Deleuze’s Film-Philosophy (Edinburgh University Press, 2023) and editor of Cine Cartográfico (LaFuga Ediciones, 2017). His current research focuses on the concept of mestizaje in contemporary Latin American cinema. Amanda Barbour is an award winning film critic and president of Senses of Cinema. She was previously a media advisor to the first Aboriginal representative of Victoria in the Australian federal parliament.
