The sensible folk at Senses of Cinema are recruiting a new editor to join our four-person editorial team. Responsibilities include commissioning, writer liaison, and editing for the Features and Festivals sections, as well as input into and editing duties for other sections of the journal as required. Quarterly participation in online editorial board meetings is also mandatory. This position would suit someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about film culture, criticism and history. All work can be done remotely from wherever in the world. Familiarity with the current state of film festivals will be advantageous.

Relevant experience could include, but is not limited to: editing, festival work, academia, publishing, and curating. The ideal candidate would possess an eye for quality texts and writers (especially festival reports), excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, abilities in planning and coordinating contributions, as well as reliability, efficiency, and teamwork capabilities.

The role requires around 8 hours a week, with the time commitment fluctuating according to publication cycles. We’re an independent, non-institutionally aligned film journal. Each editor is paid an honorarium when a new issue is published.

Interested applicants are invited to fill out this form. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their answers. Priority will be given to applications received by January 13, 2025. However, the questionnaire will remain open until the position is filled.
